Prior to finalizing participation in the program, students must meet with their major advisor to discuss how the Cal State DC Scholars courses can be used to meet major requirements. All students may use the Cal State DC courses as general electives to meet the 120 unit requirement.

Eligibility

  • Enrollment: Open to all CSU students in good academic standing
  • Majors: Open to all majors and areas of study
  • Class Standing: Typically, students must have attained sophomore or junior standing (60 earned units) prior to enrolling in Cal State DC coursework
  • GPA Requirement: A 3.0 GPA is normally required for admission. However, students with lower GPAs are encouraged to apply if they demonstrate strong references and relevant academic, professional, or extracurricular experience

Academic Coursework

Fall Semester 

In the Fall semester, students must: enroll in 12 units, which include 6 internship units and two specially designed upper division courses that incorporate the culture, history, and professional networks available only in Washington D.C.

In the Summer semester, students in the summer program must: enroll in 6 units, including 3 units of internship.
