Costs Overview

The primary costs of the Washington, D.C. Internship Program include:

  • Tuition
  • Housing (room and board)
  • Transportation to and from Washington, D.C. 
  • Living expenses (Food, personal expenses, etc.)

Financial Support

Similar programs often charge thousands of dollars more. Although financial assistance is available, interested students are encouraged to prepare and save for such a program and treat it as an investment in their future.

Costs Breakdown

Tuition

Spring and Fall: Tuition is exactly the same as if you were taking the classes on the CSU Fullerton campus.

Summer: All students must register and pay tuition and fees through Cal State Fullerton Summer Session or Open University (for other CSU student participants).

Housing

Spring and Fall: Housing is approximately $4,800.

Summer: Housing is approximately $4,800.

Living Expenses

Living expenses depend on your personal lifestyle, but recent D.C. Scholars reported spending approximately:

Spring and Fall: 2000$ in total

Summer: $1500 in total

Transportation to and from Washington D.C.

Round-trip airfare can cost approximately $450-$550, all year around. 

Metro benefits may be provided for some students. However, if not covered, public transportation costs in Washington, D.C. can average around $130 per month, depending on commute distance and frequency of travel.
